COLLEGE STATION - The Texas A&M women's golf team opens its fall season Monday hosting the "Mo"Morial Tournament at the par-72, 6,206-yard Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas. The 54-hole event will run through Wednesday. The first two days of play will start at 9 a.m. and the final round will begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
“We are very excited to host the ‘Mo’ again with such a talented roster to show off to the 12th Man,” Texas A&M head coach Trelle McCombs said. “The team and I look for us to have a great event after all the hard work this offseason and especially the past two weeks. I am ready to see what this group can do out on the course.”
The 11-team field includes UCF, East Carolina, Elon, Florida State, Kentucky, Redlands CC, Rollins, Texas A&M, UT-Pan Am, UTSA and Virginia.
The A&M lineup will include every member of the current roster, composing two teams and freshman Emily Fuchs to compete as an individual at 9:45 a.m. The first team suited up in maroon and white will tee-off beginning at 9:00 a.m. consisting of freshmen Andrea Jonama and Callie Scheffler, junior Kirby Kramer and seniors Natalie Reeves and Janell Lysack. The second group of Aggies, beginning at 10:03 a.m., includes freshman Thanya Pattamakijsakul and Bianca Fabrizio, sophomore Alex Neal and seniors Katerina Ruzickova and Chelsea Mocio.
The Texas A&M women’s golf “Mo”Morial tournament is named after former Aggie women’s golf great Monica Welsh. Welsh, tragically passed away in an automobile accident in 1992, was a four-year letter winner for the Aggies from 1978-1982. She was a two-time TAIAW all-state selection and set the then-record for low competitive round (68) in 1981 at the TAIAW State Championship. The maroon and white have hosted the “Mo” 17 times and have finished first a “Mo”-best six times, including a record best 25-stroke victory in 1996.
Live scoring and a complete list of tee-times for the ‘Mo’ will be available at golfstat.com.
