COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men’s golf team will tee off its 2013-14 campaign this weekend as it travels to Long Island to face Yale on Saturday in a dual match.
“We can’t wait to get going,” Texas A&M head coach J.T. Higgins said. “It’s been so hot here this summer but our guys have handled it really well and have had a great week of qualifying. I think they’re ready to get up north into some cooler temperatures and get back to competing again.”
The teams will square off at the Atlantic Golf Club in Bridgehampton, N.Y., which has hosted a number of high-profile tournaments since opening in 1991, including the 2010 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.
Texas A&M, which appeared at the No. 19 spot in the Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches’ Preseason Poll, will feature a weekend line-up of Ty Dunlap, Ben Crancer, Johannes Veerman, Greg Yates, Andrew Lister and Jade Scott.
The Texas A&M men’s golf program has been a model of consistent success under Higgins, who enters his 13th year at the helm of the program. The Aggies begin the 2013-14 campaign riding the nation’s longest streak of finishing in the top 15 at the NCAA Championship, a feat they have accomplished each of the last six seasons.

The Aggies’ 12-man roster features seniors Ryan Kelley (The Woodlands, Texas), Jade Scott (Daingerfield, Texas) and Johannes Veerman (Sugar Land, Texas) while highlighting the junior class is 2013 honorable mention All-American Ty Dunlap (Westlake, Texas) and Greg Yates (Mansfield, Texas). Sophomores Adrià Arnaus (Barcelona, Spain), Charlie Benell (Pacific Palisades, Calif.), Ben Crancer (Kirkwood, Mo.) and Andrew Lister (San Diego, Calif.) are also back in the fold with a year of experience under their belt.
Additionally, assistant coach Brian Kortan enters his first season in Aggieland after spending the previous four seasons as an assistant at New Mexico.
