Texas A&M Ranked 9th in Latest Division I Directors' Cup

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M athletics program is currently in 9th place in the latest 2012-13 Division I Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup winter rankings. The Aggies have finished in the Top 10 the past three years in the final year-end rankings. (6th in 2009-10, 8th in 2010-11 and 9th in 2011-12)

The most recent rankings included points for men’s and women’s basketball. The final winter rankings will be released on Thursday, Apr. 25 after the completion of men’s hockey, women’s bowling and men’s and women’s gymnastics.

Texas A&M women’s head coach Gary Blair and the Aggie basketball team reached the second round of the NCAA Championships and earned 50 points.

The Aggie fall sports posted 247 points and added to the winter total of 324.50 points provides the total of 571.50. Every Texas A&M spring sport is currently ranked in its respective Top 25 poll with the Aggie men’s outdoor track and field program leading the way as the No. 1-ranked team in the country.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup takes into consideration the top 10 female sports and the top 10 male sports at each institution. In Texas A&M’s case, the school sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports, 11 female and nine male.
