ATHENS, Ga.-Senior Mary Michael Maggio kept a steady hand and shot an even par to help the Texas A&M women's golf team place 11th on the first day of the Liz Murphey Fall Preview, hosted by Georgia.

The Aggies shot a score of 299, 11 over par, to finish the first round of the tournament. Auburn is currently in the lead with a score of 287 (-1), followed by UCLA (+6), Southern California (+7), Denver (+7), Georgia (+8), Alabama (+8), North Carolina (+9), Vanderbilt (+9), Oklahoma (+10) and Virginia (+10). Tied for 12th place are Purdue and Tulane, each with a score of 300 (+12). Tennessee (+14), Duke (+14), South Carolina (+17), California (+18) and LSU (+19) followed consecutively.

"We actually played pretty steady today," head coach Trelle McCombs said. "We just didn't have much fall our way. The girls did such a good job with the way they carried themselves all day long. The scores are really tight and if we can put a good round together tomorrow then we can certainly move up the leaderboard."

Maggio bogeyed and birdied one hole each to finish the day with a score of 72 (E) and in a tie for 11th place individually. Senior Sarah Beth Davis and junior Natalie Reeves followed closely, each with a score of 75 (+3). Juniors Katerina Ruzickova and Chelsea Mocio rounded out the contingency with scores of 77 (+5) and 81 (+9), respectively.

The second round of the preview will begin Saturday at 8 a.m. (EST). The Aggies are paired with Oklahoma and Tulane and will tee off from the 10th hole. Live scoring from the event can be found at
