In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, the SEC once again highlighted a Community Service Team for women’s basketball for the 2013-14 season. Texas A&M sophomore point guard Jordan Jones was named to the team for her contributions to the Aggies' mentor program with Bryan ISD for elementary school children.

Jones has gone above and beyond the requirements of the program, taking it upon herself to visit several additional schools during the week. Jones has had a profound impact on many of her mentees, including forming a special bond with a particular 10-year old student at Bonham Elementary. Earlier this season, Jones and the team were recognized by the superintendent of Bryan ISD, Dr. Thomas Wallis, when he personally thanked the team for their service at one of the Aggies’ practices.

This marks the 16th year for the SEC Community Service Team for women’s basketball as well as for men’s basketball. All league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men’s and women’s sports being chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.

Jones and the Aggies return to the floor on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. in the team's final regular season home game, against Arkansas.
